PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR IN NORTH TEXAS

Paintless Dent Repair is all about restoring the shape of the damaged panel while preserving the vehicle’s existing finish whenever the damage qualifies. These are actual before-and-after examples of PDR repairs.

Paintless Dent Repair before and after minor fender dent

MINOR FENDER DENT

BEFORE → AFTER

A dent doesn’t automatically mean sanding, body filler and repainting. When the damage and paint condition allow it, PDR can reshape the affected metal while preserving the existing finish.

Paintless Dent Repair before and after hail damage on roof panel

HAIL DAMAGE

ROOF PANEL REPAIR

Multiple hail dents can sometimes be repaired with PDR while preserving the original painted surface instead of refinishing the entire roof panel.

HAIL DAMAGE

HOOD PANEL REPAIR

Hail can leave dozens of visible dents across a single panel. PDR allows qualifying dents to be individually worked without automatically requiring conventional refinishing.

WHY PDR?

IF WE CAN SAVE THE FACTORY FINISH, WHY REPAINT IT?

Conventional collision repair absolutely has its place, but not every dent requires it. When PDR is appropriate, preserving the existing finish means avoiding unnecessary sanding, body filler, primer, paint and clearcoat while still addressing the damaged metal.

WHAT CAN PDR REPAIR?

NOT EVERY DENT NEEDS A BODY SHOP.

Paintless Dent Repair can be an excellent option when the paint remains intact and the metal can be safely returned toward its original shape. The size of the dent matters, but depth, location, metal condition and access behind the panel can matter even more.

GOOD PDR CANDIDATES

DAMAGE WE CAN OFTEN ADDRESS WITHOUT REPAINTING

PARKING LOT CLASSIC

DOOR DINGS

Those wonderful little gifts left by somebody else’s door are among the most common types of damage evaluated for Paintless Dent Repair.

NORTH TEXAS SPECIAL

HAIL DAMAGE

Multiple shallow hail dents across hoods, roofs, doors and other metal panels are common candidates for PDR when the paint remains intact.

EVERYDAY DAMAGE

MINOR DENTS

Shopping carts, minor parking-lot impacts and other shallow dents may be excellent PDR candidates depending on their shape and location.

DEPENDS ON SEVERITY

CREASES & BODY LINES

Some creases and dents crossing body lines can be repaired with PDR. Depth, sharpness, metal stretching and accessibility determine whether they’re good candidates.

BIG DENT? DON’T ASSUME IT CAN’T BE PDR.

SIZE ALONE DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE STORY.

A larger, shallow dent can sometimes be a better PDR candidate than a tiny but extremely sharp dent. We look at the entire damage profile before deciding whether Paintless Dent Repair makes sense.

WHEN PDR ISN’T THE RIGHT ANSWER

NEGATIVE, GHOST RIDER.

CRACKED OR CHIPPED PAINT

PDR repairs the shape of the metal; it doesn’t replace missing or damaged paint. Paint damage may require additional refinishing.

SEVERELY STRETCHED METAL

Severe impacts can stretch the metal beyond what can be cleanly restored with PDR alone.

STRUCTURAL DAMAGE

Collision damage involving structural components or severe panel deformation belongs in a properly equipped collision repair facility.

SOME INACCESSIBLE DAMAGE

Panel construction, reinforcement and the exact location of the dent can limit tool access and affect whether PDR is practical.

IF PDR ISN’T THE RIGHT REPAIR, WE’LL TELL YOU.

The goal isn’t to force every dent into a PDR repair. It’s to determine the proper repair method for the actual damage on your vehicle.

HOW PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR WORKS

THE GOAL IS TO RESHAPE THE PANEL — NOT REPAINT IT.

Paintless Dent Repair uses specialized tools, controlled pressure and precise lighting to gradually work qualifying dents back toward the panel’s original shape while preserving the existing painted surface.

STEP 1

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

We evaluate the dent’s size, depth, location, paint condition, metal stretch and access to determine whether PDR is the right repair method.

STEP 2

ACCESS THE DAMAGE

When possible, specialized PDR tools are positioned behind the damaged panel so controlled pressure can be applied from the backside of the dent.

STEP 3

CONTROLLED METAL MOVEMENT

The damaged metal is gradually worked back toward its original contour using small, precise movements instead of trying to force the entire dent out at once.

STEP 4

FINAL REFINEMENT

The panel is continually checked under dedicated lighting and refined until the remaining distortion is minimized and the panel contour is restored as closely as the damage allows.

ACCESS FROM BEHIND

TRADITIONAL PDR TOOL ACCESS

When the backside of the panel can be accessed, specialized rods and tools allow the technician to apply controlled pressure to specific areas of the dent while monitoring the surface from the outside.

LIMITED REAR ACCESS

GLUE PULLING TECHNIQUES

In suitable situations where backside access is limited, specialized glue tabs may be attached to the exterior surface and used to carefully pull portions of the dent outward before further refinement.

WHY THE STRIPED LIGHT?

PDR LIGHTING MAKES DISTORTION EASIER TO SEE.

Specialized PDR lights and reflection boards create visible lines across the panel. Changes in those reflections help the technician see highs, lows and subtle distortion that can be difficult to judge under normal shop lighting.

THE TOOLS DON’T REPAIR THE DENT.

THE TECHNICIAN DOES.

PDR is a precision repair process. Knowing where to apply pressure, how much movement the metal will tolerate and when to stop is what separates a proper repair from simply owning a box full of dent tools.

PDR VS. CONVENTIONAL BODY REPAIR

TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR METHODS FOR TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF DAMAGE.

Paintless Dent Repair isn’t a replacement for collision repair, and conventional body repair isn’t necessary for every dent. The right repair depends on the condition of the paint, severity of the damage, metal stretch, panel location and whether the damaged area can be successfully restored with PDR.

WHEN THE DAMAGE QUALIFIES

PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR

PDR focuses on restoring the shape of the damaged metal while preserving the existing painted finish.

✓ PRESERVES EXISTING PAINT

✓ NO BODY FILLER WHEN PDR IS SUCCESSFUL

✓ NO PRIMER OR REPAINTING

✓ EXCELLENT FOR MANY DINGS & HAIL DENTS

✓ MAINTAINS THE ORIGINAL FINISH

WHEN DAMAGE REQUIRES MORE

CONVENTIONAL BODY REPAIR

Conventional repair is appropriate when the damage cannot be properly restored with PDR alone or when the painted surface itself requires repair.

CRACKED OR MISSING PAINT

SEVERE METAL STRETCHING

SHARP OR COMPLEX COLLISION DAMAGE

STRUCTURAL REPAIR

DAMAGE REQUIRING REFINISHING

THE SIMPLE RULE

DON’T REPAINT FACTORY PAINT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO.

If the existing finish is intact and the damage can be properly repaired using PDR, preserving that finish is usually preferable to unnecessarily sanding and refinishing the panel. If conventional repair is the proper solution, we’ll tell you that too.

NORTH TEXAS HAIL DAMAGE

WHEN TEXAS WEATHER DECIDES YOUR VEHICLE NEEDED DIMPLES.

Hail damage is one of the most common reasons for Paintless Dent Repair in North Texas. A single storm can leave dozens — sometimes hundreds — of dents across the hood, roof, trunk, doors and other panels while leaving much of the painted finish intact.

STEP ONE

INSPECT THE DAMAGE

Hail damage is inspected across the entire vehicle so the number, location and severity of dents can be evaluated.

STEP TWO

DETERMINE PDR ELIGIBILITY

Each affected panel is evaluated to determine which dents can be repaired with PDR and whether any areas require conventional repair.

STEP THREE

REPAIR THE DENTS

Qualifying dents are individually worked and refined rather than simply covering the damage with filler and paint.

STEP FOUR

FINAL INSPECTION

Repaired panels are inspected under proper lighting to evaluate the finished surface and remaining panel distortion.

ONE MORE THING

DON’T ASSUME THE THREE DENTS YOU CAN SEE ARE THE ONLY THREE DENTS YOU HAVE.

Hail damage can be surprisingly difficult to see under normal lighting. Proper inspection lighting can reveal dents and panel distortion across areas that may look fine at first glance.

WHY CHOOSE NORTH TEXAS CERAMIC COATINGS & DETAILING FOR PDR?

THE RIGHT REPAIR STARTS WITH AN HONEST ASSESSMENT.

Paintless Dent Repair works incredibly well when the damage is a proper candidate. Our job is to evaluate the dent, explain the options and help determine whether PDR or another repair method makes the most sense for the vehicle.

PRESERVE WHAT’S ALREADY THERE

FACTORY FINISH FIRST

When the damage qualifies for PDR, preserving the existing painted surface can avoid unnecessary sanding, body filler and refinishing.

NO GUESSING

DAMAGE-SPECIFIC ASSESSMENT

We look at paint condition, dent depth, metal stretch, location and panel access before recommending PDR. A dent should qualify because of the damage itself, not because PDR happens to be the service being sold.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

IF PDR ISN’T RIGHT, WE’LL SAY SO.

Cracked paint, severe metal stretching and collision damage sometimes need conventional repair. We’re not going to pretend a dent can be paintlessly repaired just because that’s what you hoped to hear.

OUR APPROACH

REPAIR THE DENT THE RIGHT WAY — NOT JUST THE WAY THAT SELLS A JOB.

If Paintless Dent Repair makes sense, great. If the vehicle needs another type of repair, we’d rather tell you that before work starts than promise a result the damage won’t allow.

PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR FAQ

PDR QUESTIONS? HERE ARE THE STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Paintless Dent Repair can be a great option for dents, door dings and hail damage when the damage qualifies. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we hear from North Texas vehicle owners.

PDR FAQ

WHAT IS PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR?

Paintless Dent Repair, or PDR, is a repair process that reshapes qualifying dents while preserving the existing painted surface. Specialized tools and controlled techniques are used instead of automatically sanding, filling and repainting the panel.

PDR FAQ

HOW MUCH DOES PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR COST?

PDR pricing depends on the size, depth, location and number of dents, panel material, tool access and overall difficulty of the repair. Hail damage and complex dents require a full inspection before accurate pricing can be determined.

PDR FAQ

HOW LONG DOES PDR TAKE?

Repair time depends on the damage. A simple door ding and a vehicle covered in hail dents are obviously very different jobs. We’ll evaluate the repair and give you a realistic time estimate based on the actual damage.

PDR FAQ

CAN PDR REPAIR HAIL DAMAGE?

Yes, hail damage is one of the most common uses for Paintless Dent Repair. Each affected panel still has to be inspected because paint damage, severe metal stretching or other factors can change the repair method.

PDR FAQ

CAN LARGE DENTS BE REPAIRED WITH PDR?

Sometimes. Size alone doesn’t determine whether PDR will work. A broad, shallow dent may be a better candidate than a very small but sharp dent. Depth, metal stretch, location and access all matter.

PDR FAQ

CAN A DENT ON A BODY LINE BE REPAIRED?

Many body-line dents can be repaired with PDR, but they can be more complex because the metal has been formed into a stronger contour. The severity and exact location of the damage have to be evaluated.

PDR FAQ

WHAT IF THE PAINT IS CRACKED OR CHIPPED?

PDR repairs the shape of the panel; it does not replace damaged paint. If the paint is cracked, chipped or missing, the vehicle may also require refinishing even if some of the metal damage can be improved with PDR.

PDR FAQ

DOES PDR WORK ON ALUMINUM PANELS?

Aluminum panels can sometimes be repaired with PDR, but the material behaves differently than steel and can require different techniques. The specific panel and damage need to be inspected first.

PDR FAQ

WILL THE DENT COME BACK AFTER PDR?

A properly repaired dent should not simply reappear on its own. The final result still depends on the extent of the original damage, metal stretch and the condition of the panel.

PDR FAQ

DOES INSURANCE COVER HAIL DAMAGE PDR?

Coverage depends on your insurance policy and the circumstances of the loss. If you have hail damage, start by having the vehicle inspected so you understand the extent of the damage and which repairs may be appropriate.

PDR FAQ

IS PDR BETTER THAN BODY FILLER AND PAINT?

If the damage is a good PDR candidate and the existing finish can be preserved, PDR can avoid unnecessary refinishing. Conventional body repair is still the correct solution when the damage exceeds what PDR can properly restore.
